Izvorni tekst - engleski SOURCE (EN): Translation memory managers are most suitable for translating technical documentation and documents containing specialized vocabularies. Their benefits include: (1) Ensuring that the document is completely translated (translation memories do not accept empty target segments) (2) Ensuring that the translated documents are consistent, including common definitions, phrasings and terminology. This is important when different translators are working on a single project. (3) Enabling translators to translate documents in a wide variety of formats without having to own the software typically required to process these formats. (4) Accelerating the overall translation process; since translation memories "remember" previously translated material, translators have to translate it only once. (5) Reducing costs of long-term translation projects; for example the text of manuals, warning messages or series of documents needs to be translated only once and can be used several times. (6) For large documentation projects, savings (in time or money) thanks to the use of a TM package may already be apparent even for the first translation of a new project, but normally such savings are only apparent when translating subsequent versions of a project that was translated before using translation memory.
Prijevod - bosanski TARGET (BS): Programi koji omogućavaju korištenje prevodilačkih memorija najpogodniji su za prevođenje tehničke dokumentacije i dokumenata koji sadrže specijaliziranu terminologiju. Prednosti korištenja ovakvih programa su: (1) Oni onemogućavaju nekompletan prijevod dokumenta (prevodilačke memorije ne prihvataju prazne segmente) (2) Osiguravaju konzistentnost prevedenih dokumenata u smislu upotrebe najčešće korištenih definicija, sintagmi i terminologije. Ovo je izrazito važno kada više prevodilaca radi na istom projektu. (3) Omogućavaju prevodiocima da prevode dokumente koji se nalaze u različitim formatima a da pritom ne moraju posjedovati program koji se obično koristi za obradu tih formata dokumenata. (4) Ubrzavaju cjelokupni proces prevođenja; prevodilačke memorije „pamte“ prethodne prijevode, pa stoga prevodioci moraju prevesti dokumente samo jednom. (5) Smanjuju troškove dugoročnih prevodilačkih projekata; naprimjer, sadržaj uputstava, upozorenja ili čitavog niza dokumenata potrebno je prevesti samo jednom, a potom se ti prijevodi mogu koristiti više puta. (6) U projektima prevođenja obimnije dokumentacije, uštede (u vremenu i novcu) ostvarene uz pomoć prevodilačkih memorija nekada su vidljive već pri prvom prijevodu u novom projektu, ali najčešće su takve uštede vidljive tek kada se počnu prevoditi naknadne verzije projekta koji je prethodno preveden uz pomoć prevodilačke memorije.

Semir Mehadžić is currently working as Translation Technology Specialist at Text United and as Bosnian Language Moderator for Moravia Worldwide.
Seven years of working with international clients/LSPs in the capacity of a translation agency manager, PM and a freelance translator and reviewer have provided him with an insight into translation project management, various translation workflows, as well as the latest translation technology and language industry developments. He worked with the teams responsible for the Bosnian localization of Windows Vista OS, Microsoft Office 2007, Windows 8 and 8.1 OS, Microsoft Office 2013, Windows Live, Skype, and Android Jelly Bean mobile OS.
He holds an MA degree in Translation. In 2012, he conducted a master thesis research on translation, socio-cultural, and technical aspects of software localization into the Bosnian language, the first of that kind. He completed the Localization Engineering course at the University of Washington in 2013.
He is the author of a series of articles on translation technology and software solutions. He has also held several workshops and training sessions on CAT tools for translators in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
