Hello everyone,
I was wondering if the specialisation field "Energy/Power generation" also include technical texts entirely on electric circuits and power hook-up (of a photovoltaic facility for example), or this kind of texts is normally translated by translators specialised in electrical engineering?

You would probably end up working for companies that have a wide range of products, and indeed you get to translate all sort of things, from generation to distribution.
In my case I translate about different aspects of solar power, wind power, distribution automation, motors, and generators, and of course they are treated as part of systems you need to understand as a whole. If you do end up doing work about wind power, don't be surprised if you are asked to translate about mechanical components, like gear boxes, nacelles, and even cranes mounted in the nacelles... I reckon this field is really multifaceted and your customers will expect you to "know it all"!

I think I am going to go on in that field but do a quick training on electrical circuits etc. It seems to have a lot of work in that field when you translate from German, that would be a shame to give up.
