I'm mostly at my desk around 7:30 a.m and work most of the time at least until 10:30 p.m. But I take many breaks for my daily dog walk, dishes, laundry, cooking etcetera. I aim for a theoretical target of 10 translation hours (= exclusively dedicated to translation) a day. I think I actually translate about 6-8 hours a day, on average.

It varies a lot: from 1 hour if I have no work at all (just to check my emails and deal with some administrative stuff) to sometimes from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. (if I’m involved in a longish project). In principle, today I’ll have no work, unless something unexpected comes up: that’s the life of a freelancer!

Questions Dec 4

What's the difference between "Up to 8" and "Less than 8"? Was somebody struggling to find options here?

And why is 8 such a mystical number that it appears in half of the options, when to most freelancers it has no special meaning?

And does anybody who is likely to respond to this poll exclude weekends? A curious question all round.

These days, I would consider "full time" work for me to be an average of 4-5 hours per day, seven days per week. Some

These days, I would consider "full time" work for me to be an average of 4-5 hours per day, seven days per week. Some days I may work more hours, and other days I may not work at all.

Note that there is no 8 in there, and I do not exclude weekends.
