Yes, but not in translation or languages. I teach basic jewellery techniques at evening school in Munich and have taught jewellery design/art on BA/MA courses.

I’m not good at teaching as it requires a very high degree of patience. But many years ago, I taught reading and writing to a small group of poor young girls who lacked education. One day I ran into one of them by chance. She had continued her studies and was working as a secretary. I often wonder what became of the others… | | |

Straight after university I got a job as an EFL teacher and did that for about 4 years, enough for me to realise that it was not the right job for me.

Yes, I began teaching English in the last year of my B.A. in Languages and Literatures (Portuguese-English) with a Teaching Degree 25 years ago in Brazil, and taught students of different ages and backgrounds for nine years in a row. Though today, when analyzing what's been happening to our profession as translators, I've been seriously thinking about giving teaching another try. But teaching Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL). I know AI has been posing many challenges to teachers too, but at least in the near future (or as long as I live) there will always be human teachers, as well as there will always be human medical doctors, for example.

I teach a professional writing course at the local university. It works really well, and it seems to be helpful, at least for the most serious students.
I like the change and complementarity, compared to my main occupation. However, given all the side tasks it involves, it is hardly profitable.
